I enjoyed this book. A friend of a law office manager was suddenly on the docket of the court for murder. Autumn was shocked as her friend Mia would help earthworms get across the sidewalk so they wouldn't' t get squashed or be too hot on the concrete. She immediately rushed to Ash Thorpe, the top criminal lawyer in the firm telling him he had to go immediately and get her friend off from the murder trial. He resisted only a bit and took off with her after reaching his staff by phone to find more about the case. It didn' t look good. People had heard them arguing several times. Her ex-boyfriend was missing and some of his blood was at his home. His fiancee said Mia was stalking him. Autumn said he was stalking Mia. There was no body and Mia' s yard was dug up. The concrete in her basement was dug up. There were surprises when her neighbors all came over to help replant. Surprises when he got to the school where she taught kindergarten. Bigger surprises when they got to the ex-boyfriend's school where he was principal. His research team was checking everything out.In the meantime Ash was keeping Mia close to him, in his home. She was becoming attracted to him and he to her . She had been engaged to the alleged head man but she confessed that they never had sex as she never wanted to. But she was feeling fireworks when Ash was around. Ash had to get her proven innocent not just get the case dismissed for lack of evidence as she was a teacher and reputation was important. She was also such an innocent in so many ways. Could his team do it? Could he keep to his personal ethics not to have a sexual relationship with a client? There are other women involved in the law firm as well and Ash has his brothers as partners. I will be looking for a sequel with one of the other brothers. Maybe more than one. Try this book.

I've always been a sucker for fairy-tales and this is an amazing adult fairy-tale. Gentle, beautiful, much loved by all Mia, is rescued from a false murder charge by handsome, brilliant, caring, Ash Thorpe. Another great stand alone novel from Elizabeth Lennox
Ok not very realistic. Good enough that I thought I'd try the second book. Second book same as the first. Really hot guyoverwhelms the senses of virgin woman. All three books so far have virgin women that loose their virginity within a couple of days/week of knowing these guys. A. If they coveted their virginity this long don't see them just throwing it out there for a guy they don't know. B. 1 virgin in this series ok, I can roll with it, but 3? Very brother magically finds a virgin ages 26-30??? No not happening unless they were at a nunnery.
Great love story with just a bit of suspense surrounding Mia's court case. My only problem is Mia's reasoning behind her anger at Ash towards the end after they find out the truth of what happened to her ex-fiancé - her anger over him believing that she was a criminal did not make sense since he had just exonerated her of any and all crime. Other than that I have my normal complaints about Elizabeth Lennox's typos and grammar mistakes but I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys an easy-to-read HEA love story.
A quick read featuring Ash Thorpe, a criminal defense attorney and his client Mia, a teacher who is being accused of murder. No spoilers here. Read this one, you won't be disappointed. Mia is a sweetheart who is well liked by co-workers, neighbors, and friends.
Innocent, virginal Mia apprehended and charged with the death of her ex-boyfriend. Ash Thorpe is the criminal attorney who comes to defend her at the request of Autumn, Mia's best friend and the office manager for the Thorpe brothers' law firm.
Everybody loves Mia. She had Ash at she doesn't like earthworms suffering.
Ms. Lennox had us all in for another series 3 pages into the story. I'll be looking to enjoy the next one around thanksgiving.
I really enjoyed this book. When Mia is arrested for the murder of her stalker, ex-boyfriend, she is devastated. She is a sweet and kind kindergarten teacher and would never harm anyone. All of her neighbors and fellow teachers love her. How can she be in jail? When her best friend, Autumn, sees Mia's name on the docket call for that morning's plea hearings in court, she rushes into her boss' office and begs him to help. Ash is one of the top defense attorneys in the county and Autumn knows he can help clear Mia of the murder charges. When the Mia and Ash look at each other, there is an instance attraction. Ash feels immediately protective of Mia and knows he has to do whatever he can to clear her name and claim her. But he's afraid of getting to close to fast and breaking his rule about relationships with clients. But he can't help the way he feels, and keeps Mia close as they continue to build her defense as well as their friendship/relationship.
I loved the chemistry between these two. Ash is hot and Mia is super sweet. I'm looking forward to reading the other three books with the other three attorney brothers.
The Captive Lover was my second Elizabeth Lennox novel and I loved this one too. This story is the first of the Thorpe Brothers series. Ash Thorpe is a wealthy and very successful criminal defense attorney. When one of the interns at the firms best friend is accused of murder, Ash was skillfully strong-armed into defending the accused friend by his assistant, she appealed to him in the most humorous manner. Basically she drug him to court explaining how her friend would not harm an earthworm in such detail and other stories about the teacher's heroic deeds. The too-good-to-be-true client is an elementary school teacher accused of killing her ex-fiance. The banter between Ash and the school teacher is roll on the floor funny. The interactions felt realistic, again with a hilarity that made the characters believable. A good read.
